Dal Oats Dhokala

BYE BYE 2015 ... WELCOME 2016 :) :)

Happy New year to Everyone ... May the new year full fills all your dreams and ambitions...  take the good things in new year with you and leave bad words ... sad moments behind with 2015... New beginning .. a new year ... a new journey is waiting for all of us.... :) :)... 

So everyone excited... Me too excited... So whats plan for 31st night... all dhoom dhamaka ..  overnight party... masti.. :) :) ... don't forget to pray for everyone in this start of new year... lets hope that no  more terrorist attack kill innocent people all over the world... may ever where peace prevails.. Everybody can sleep without worries and tensions... every child feels safe in his/her country...hope this days come soon... Amen...

New year Celebration.. means lots of sweets and snacks for new yr eve party ... so you can take some ideas from my blog... :) :) ... With new year one more thing is attached is the big word ..
 " RESOLUTION " ... every year we take resolution. and forgot on the next day ... whats your resolution these yr ... If you ask for me... I want to lose some weight ...don't know.. I will be able to do.. but lets hope I can stand on my resolution :P :)

This blog is for Dal Oats Dhokala... I was going to prepare Moong Dal chilla .. also known as Pesarattu  dosa. Then as batter was more.. so I thought lets try something new .. with these batter by adding some more things.. Then my mind pointed me the oats...and then I came up with this  dhokala... So lets start with the recipe :-



Ingredients :-

3/4 cup green moong dal
1/4 cup chana dal
1/2 cup gramflour
3/4 cup roasted grinded oats
salt to taste
2-3 green chillys
1/2 small piece of ginger
and 1/2 cup of curd
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 tsp ENO



Ingredients for tadka or seasoning :-

2 tsp mustard seeds
2-3 green chillys sliced vertically
1 dry red chilli
2 tbsp of oil
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp white seasme seeds
1/2 cup water
4-5 curry leaves
salt to taste

Procedure :- 

Soaked both the dal's together for 3-4 hours. Grind it with green chillys , cumin seeds and ginger with very less water.Now mix curd and powdered oats in this batter with all other ingredients except ENO .Heat the water in the tumbler.And grease a tray.Once the steam started from the tumbler.Mix the ENO at the end and stir nicely.Put the batter in the plate and steam for 15-20 mins,Or till the time its properly cooked.Check in between by inserting the tooth pick.Once comes out clean its done.Take out and late it cool down.Once cools down cut into pieces in shape of your choice. 

For tadka , take a pan and add oil.Once hot add curry leaves , mustard seeds , green chili's and red chilli's.Once done add salt and sugar.Then add water.Allow it to boil.Then spread this on the dhokalas.Garnish with dry coconut or coriander leaves.Serve with ketchup or tamarind chutney with sprinkling some nylon sev :) :)

Ragda Pattice




Hello Lovely People

Happy Holidays to all ... And Welcome Winter :) ... Lovely season with lots of snow ... cold breeze and new sweaters ..jackets... and how can we forget the important thing related to winter season ..  that is.. the yummy hot food... all we be agreeing with me on this ...:) :)

I love this season as eating hot yummy tasty food in cold weather is a different pleasure... Also so many good vegetables come in this season... Like Carrots and Radish ... Carrot halwa and Radish Paratha.. who can forget to mention when we talk about winters... I love my mom made Parathas and Halwa... Specially on 31st night we make Carrot Mawa Halwa... yummm... Thinking only making me dying to eat this desert now... but only in dreams I can eat :( ... as I am away from India ...

Missing all yummy stuff of winter season here in US... very less options here :( ...what to do... we only need to make by our self in most of the cases... One of my friend Sakina and Sikander ... bery nice people.. we shared good time with them and there kids here... they returned back to India.. I miss them... But life is like that only.. we meet people..some comes close ... and then we apart... In order to give a lovely send off to them ..  I made their favorite Ragda Pattice ... My first attempt.. But came out really well :) :)... So today I am posting my recipe of Ragda Pattice ... 




Ingredients :- For Pattice

5-6 medium sized potatoes
2-3 tsp cornflour or bread crumbs or rice flour
salt to taste
3-4 chopped green chilies (optional)
1/2 cup of chopped coriander leaves
1/4 tsp of turmeric powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder

For Ragda

1 cup of yellow or white peas soaked in water for overnight and then pressure cook with salt and turmeric powder
3-4 chopped green chilies
2 dry red chilies
1 bay leaf
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 medium sized onions finely chopped
2 tomatoes chopped
salt and red chilly powder as per taste
1/2 tsp coriander and cumin powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp aamchor powder
4 tsp of oil
coriander leaves for garnish
1/2 cup Curd



Procedure :-

In a bowl take mashed potatoes , cornflour or bread crumbs , salt , turmeric powder ,green chilies and chopped coriander leaves.Mix them well and form small patties.




In a pan heat some oil.. And roast the patties on medium flame both the sides.




Then take out on paper towel to soak extra oil.




For Ragda take a pan.First take oil.Once hot add bay leaf , dry red chilies and then chopped green chilies. Then add onions.Cook it till they become light brown on medium flame.Then add all the masalas. Once onions are soft and cooked add tomatoes.And cook till a gravy is formed.




Then add peas and mix well.If needed water add at this point of time.Let everything comes to a boil.Garnish with coriander leaves.Taste the salt and sourness.If required you can add some sugar.




Assembling the plate :-

In a small bowl first keep the pattice , then pour the generous amount of ragda.Then sprinkle some tamarind  chutney and green chilly coriander chutney.Also 2-3 tsp of curd.On that put some finely chopped onions and chat masala.Then at the end sprinkle Thin Sev.Serve hot ...
